Frequently Asked Questions

Q:The site isn't working!
A: If you see a bunch of blank images under the first page of each chapter after the prologue, don't worry about it. Just click the next page button. For some reason, on most browsers, that just. happens. If you know how to fix this, let us know, lol.
If the problem is that the new update won't show up for you, try hard refreshing by pressing alt + f5.

Q: What is this?
A: This is PSY! A webcomic written and illustrated by Juice and Cat about an 18-year-old with powerful psychic abilities, trying to navigate life as an average college student. While they would prefer to be alone and their powers kept secret, they are pestered by fellow classmates trying to be their friend, all of whom's minds they can read.

Q: So, it's a saiki k rewrite?
A: Yes and no! Yes, we got the idea for this comic from watching/reading The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Yes, the main premise and many of the character archetypes were used in this comic, and a lot of jokes and plotlines from saiki k were used as inspiration, but also, PSY is entirely its own thing. Despite the characters seeming to be copy and pasted from saiki k at first glance, they are all actually extremely different from their counterparts in a lot of ways, as is the story itself. This is not "basically saiki k reskinned" it is just its own story, that was heavily inspired by saiki k!
Here's an ask I answered going into a bit more detail on the topic, if you're curious!

Q: Is every PSY character directly analogous to a Saiki K. character? Where are [list of saiki characters that don't have a counterpart]? Will they show up?
A: Not exactly! Early on before much of the writing, I made what I call, The Chart:

I talked about it in a bit more detail in this ask! Basically, they're all more like mishmashes of different characters, while bringing their own unique attributes to the table as well! (also "literally the same guys" is a goof, and not accurate at all)
As for the missing characters, some of them will show up, and some won't! Not every saiki k character had a place in our story. As of writing this, there are two main characters left to be introduced ^u^ (which is what those black boxes are covering lol) As for which ones WILL show up, well... you'll see! teehee!

Q: How long will the comic be?
A: As of writing this, we have scripted almost 30 chapters out, and we still have at least a few more that haven't been written yet! My estimate as of now is that it will be about 40 chapters, give or take. The chapter lengths vary wildly, but they are tending to get longer as the story goes on. Chapters can take anywhere from one month to half a year or longer to be made, so PSY will be ongoing for many many years to come.

Q: What's the update schedule?
A: There is no schedule! Since our team is only two people, and we are both very busy with our lives, updates happen whenever the chapter is completed. We want to continue to update with full chapters, as opposed to updating in chunks or by single pages. We just think it works better for the story that way. Because of this, it may seem like the comic is on hiatus for long periods of time, but we are really working on it nearly every single day! It is just a lot of work! Thank you for being patient with us ^u^. No matter how long it takes, we are going to see it through to the end, you have our promise!

Q: Is fanart/fanfiction allowed?
A: YES!!!!!!!!! If you want your fanart to be featured on the blog please tag us in it, or DM it to one of us directly to make sure we see it! We also follow the tags #psy comic and #psy webcomic on tumblr, but because of the nature of the website, tagging it that doesn't always mean we'll see it necessarily, so PLEASE @ us or DM it!!!! (we aren't really on any social media besides tumblr so if you post your fanart elsewhere please send us a link!!) We love all fanart it means the world to us!!!

I am now going to talk at length about fanfiction even though there hasn't been any yet because I've thought about this a lot lol

So lots of people know this article about why creators don't/shouldn't read fanfic of their work. For several reasons, I feel like this doesn't apply to us.

For one thing, the entire comic is already planned out. We already know what's going to happen, in fact most of it has already been scripted. So if someone, by chance, predicts something that happens later? Well cool! Good for them! But you already know that we aren't ripping someone off and that it would just be a coincidence (or like, that person is good at predicting stories :P) because the entire comic was already planned from the beginning!

Furthermore, if there WAS an idea in a fanfic that we thought was cool and wanted to incorporate into the comic, we would simply ask the author for permission to do so and give them credit for the idea. But like, if someone happens to write a fanfic that is basically the same as something that happens later in the comic and accuses us of stealing their idea, we can literally just point to time stamps in the google doc or in our discord messages and say "nah, we came up with that first. good job figuring it out, tho!" so I really don't see it as an issue here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I would like to read the fanfic!!!

So yeah if you ever write fanfic we'd love to read it and you should absolutely send it our way! ^u^
